TAVR vs SAVR in low-risk and high-risk patients: a randomized trial meta-analysis
A meta-analysis of randomized trials comparing TAVR to surgical aortic valve replacement (SAVR) found that while the risk of death or stroke resulting in death or disability was lower in the TAVR group up to 1 year in low-risk patients, there was no difference after 1 year. There was no significant difference in the primary outcome between the two treatments at 1 year and after 1 year in high-risk patients, Dr. Yousif Ahmad of Yale University, USA, and colleagues reported in the March 7 issue of the European Heart Journal.
