Balloon-expandable vs. self-expanding valves in TAVR for Asian patients
A study using data from the National Health Insurance Service (NHIS) in South Korea found that TAVR using the Sapien 3 (BEV) balloon-expandable valve had lower rates of all-cause mortality and implantation of a permanent pacemaker compared with the use of the Evolut R (SEV) self-expanding valve, according to a study performed by Dr. Young Kyoung Sa and colleagues of The Catholic University of Korea, in the Feburary 15 edition of The American Journal of Cardiology.
