Vol.3 Reaching 100 Papers from the OCEAN-SHD Group - Inaugural Members Discuss the Past and Future Prospects
TAVI (Transcatheter Aortic Valve Implantation) was born in France in 2002, and was approved and reimbursed in Japan in 2013. Dr. Kentaro Hayashida of Keio University, Dr. Masanori Yamamoto of Toyohashi/Nagoya Heart Center, and Dr. Yusuke Watanabe of Teikyo University, all of whom studied in France during the early days of TAVI, contributed to the improvement of patient treatment results, international exchange, and data transmission from Japan. The OCEAN Group was established in 2013 with the aim of improving treatment outcomes, and 10 years after its formation, the OCEAN Group published its 100th academic paper.
The activities of the OCEAN Group, which now has 26 participating facilities in Japan, have attracted worldwide attention, and the Group was selected to represent Japan in the ENVISAGE-TAVI AF trial, which was presented at ESC Congress 2021 and published simultaneously in the New England Journal of Medicine.
TCROSS NEWS invited nine "OCEANIANs", who are also the initial members of the OCEAN Group, to talk about their trajectories so far.
