Impact of Bifurcation Involvement and Location in Chronic Total Occlusion Percutaneous Coronary Intervention: Insights From the EuroCTO Registry
Data from approximately 4,000 cases of PCI for chronic total occlusion (CTO) in the EuroCTO registry demonstrated that about one-third of cases involved a bifurcation. The technical success rate was lower when the bifurcation was within the CTO segment, but it was similar to that of lesions without bifurcations when the bifurcation was outside the CTO segment, Dr. Alice Moroni and colleagues, Ziekenhuis Netwerk Antwerpen (ZNA) Middelheim, Belgium, reported in the July 15 issue of the American Journal of Cardiology.
