Impact of a CTO on the Incidence of Appropriate ICD Shocks and Mortality: A Substudy of the DO-IT Registry
In patients with chronic ischemic heart disease who underwent ICD implantation for the primary prevention of sudden death, the presence of a coronary CTO was an independent predictor of all-cause mortality and appropriate ICD shocks, Dr. Anna van Veelen and colleagues of the University of Amsterdam, the Netherlands, reported in the April 16 issue of the Journal of the American Heart Association.
